I am a user of the world map of your company and I have found a problem in it. I would like to let you know the problem according to the naming of "Sea of Japan" by this e-mail. On the recent edition of your map that sea is named as "East Sea /Sea of Japan". But it has been called just as "Sea of Japan" by people in the world except for Korean people. I know that Korean people call it as "East Sea", and I think it is reasonable for them to call it like that because it exists east of Korea. I don't think, however, it is proper naming for the international map because "East Sea" is used only among Korean people and it is confusing for people in the other country. As you know, that sea is northwestern sea for Japan, southern sea for Russia. In Japan "East Sea" indicates Pacific Ocean and region along it's coastline. In China "East Sea" indicates "East China Sea" and people call that sea as "Sea of Japan".
In this map, "East China Sea" is called as "East Sea". "Sea of Japan" is called as "Sea of Japan", not "East Sea".
I guess Korean people claimed that it should not be called as "Sea of Japan" but as "East Sea". They may think that they could lose their rights in that sea if it is called as "Sea of Japan", but naming of the sea and the rights of the surrounding countries are completely different issues. For example, the naming of "Irish Sea" doesn't infringe the right of United Kingdom in Irish Sea.
Now you must consider the fact that only Korean people call it as "East Sea" and it is so confusing for non Korean people, including all Japanese ,Russian and Chinese. I strongly persist that it should be called just as "Sea of Japan" in the international map. I urge you to have this situation investigated at once. Please let me know how you plan to handle it.
I have often visited your map site and I believe that your web site is supported by many map user. Although I am very satisfied with your information, I notice one unacceptable mistake described in your site. The word "East Sea" is used instead of "Sea of Japan" in your site, which might make your map user confused seriously. Because the name "Sea of Japan" has been accepted in almost all countries for a long period and it is commonly used in the official documents in the US government. "Sea of Japan" is the established word especially amongst the seamen in the world. I understand that some minority (e.g. South Korea) insists to use the word "East Sea" for "Sea of Japan". However, the word "Sea of Japan" is world-widely used today and should also be applied in your map to avoid misunderstanding for the new comer. I strongly recommend you to correct the uncommon word as soon as possible. I believe that your prompt response would make your site very reliable one.
In Japan "East Sea" is Pacific ocean (AD.500~) Japanese confuse "East Sea" with Pacific ocean. Please delete "East Sea". If we ask you to write Pacific ocean/East Sea. What would you do?
"Sea of Japan" doesn't seem to line up a Korean area name with a popular name on the international high seas in the same rank in "the east sea". If this is regarded, in "Korean Strait" and the same rank, "Tsushima Strait", you must write concurrently You must draw a map in the world again.
Though the Sea of Japan is being done as to the name of the east sea and putting down, as for the east sea, it is being used in many countries in Asia, and the name of the east sea of is inappropriate in your Web site. It was called with the east sea, and the Sea of Japan was being called to Japan with the west sea for more than 1500 years from the old days 【 the Pacific Ocean 】. As for the land route as well, this uses a name with the west sea way and the east sea way. The Shinkansen to run in the Japanese Pacific side at present is calling the east sea way Shinkansen, a general railroad line the east sea way line, too. It is being called with Tokai, and it is decided to the Asian from the ancient times that the name putting down of the Sea of Japan and the east sea causes confusion 【 the Korean Peninsula and the space of China 】 as for China as well. Specially, a Japanese gets confused very much because the Sea of Japan is not in the east. The name of the east sea is inappropriate as a name which shows the high seas. Delete the name of the east sea, please.
Do you write the Pacific Ocean concurrently with Tokai if you ask for the matter that Tokai is written concurrently in the Pacific Ocean from the Japanese? The Pacific Ocean is inevitable in Tokai more than and causing inappropriate confusion. Tokai in the Japanese, the Sea of Japan and putting down are the same, too.
The yellow sea is being called with Saikai in South Korea. Correspondence is noncommittal only in the Sea of Japan. You should unify it in the yellow sea and the Sea of Japan.

Though "Toukai" seems to have described in parallel in "Sea of Japan" "East Sea" is a name used only in South Korea as part of the anti-Japan action.
Describing "East Sea" in parallel means your company agreed with this thought movement. Return it to the display only of "Sea of Japan" which passes internationally.
Dear you. A Korean is a race below garbage. Fellows repeat a crime in various parts of Japan, and the human being whom a crime does not have, either is killed like every day. The four families who also contain two young children in Tokyo the other day were killed by the Korean. Can you trust the message from such people?

I discovered the problem on the map which your company is creating. O Although □□ sea is called △ sea in O country for many years Only □□ sea currently abroad used for the map of your company is indicated. In order that there may be no publication of △ sea, it is very much confused in OO country. I ask of you so that □□ sea and 供 can write together △ sea. The name currently used for the Sea of Japan only in Republic of Korea called Tokai Since it is written together, it believes that my opinion is also accepted and does not suspect. When not accepted, it expects that a reason can answer a letter. I ask of you well. 64 Name: The namelessness Mr. @ belly is full. Contribution day: 2000 / 12/17(Sun.) 01:38 ID :.

It is likely to be still more and is peevish. It is more interesting for many names to reach as same the sea as possible.
I am a user of the world map of your company and I have found a problem in it. I write to complain you about the naming of "Sea of Japan" by this e-mail. On the latest edition of your map that sea is named as "East Sea /Sea of Japan".
Though only Korean people call "Sea of Japan" as "East Sea",you seem to take Korean people's opinion. All Japanese, Chinese, Russian and people of any other nations except for only Korean people call it "Sea of Japan".
In the same way, only Japanese call "Pacific Ocean" as "East Sea". Only Chinese call "East China Sea" as "East Sea". Only Vietnamese call "South China Sea" as "East Sea". Only Korean call "Yellow Sea" as "West Sea". Only Korean call "East China Sea" as "South Sea".
So, you should call "Pacific Ocean" as "East Sea/Pacific Ocean". You should call"East China Sea" as "South Sea/East Sea/East China Sea". You should call"South China Sea" as "East Sea/South China Sea". You should call"Sea of Japan" as "West Sea/East Sea/Sea of Japan".
When you say "East Sea", Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese think of it as "Pacific Ocean","Sea of Japan","East China Sea" and "South China Sea", respectively. It's so much confusing, because these four countries and four ocean/sea are located very closely.
It's nothing but chaos.
In order to avoid misunderstanding, I think that only internationally approved place-names should be used in international map. Therefore, the name "East Sea"in the world map of your company must be deleted. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
I am a user of the world map of your company. I would like to let you know the problem according to the naming of "Sea of Japan" by this e-mail.
I hear from Korean Newspaper that on the next edition of your map that sea will be called as "East Sea /Sea of Japan".
Is that true?
It has been called just as "Sea of Japan" by people in the world except for Korean people. In China "East Sea" indicates "East China Sea" and people call that sea as "Sea of Japan". In Vietnum "East Sea" indicates "South China Sea".
Look at this map. "East China Sea" is called as "East Sea". "Sea of Japan" is called as "Sea of Japan", not "East Sea".

For people who like their travel news down loaded, not loaded down. Brought to you by Lonely Planet (http://www.lonelyplanet.com)
